As part of this class, you are required to write a reflection paper on the topics that we have covered in class during this semester. This assignment should be 2-3 double-spaced, typewritten pages. The paper should be one-inch margins and
- Pick a movie, book, true story documentary, or even personal experience that is related to the correctional system. Each student is charged with the task of relating at least one of the topics that we discuss to something they see/read/ or hear about in the present-day mass media (i.e., newspapers, television news stories, present day television shows/movies, magazines, website, etc.). The movie The Shawshank Redemption will not be accepted as an entry
- First, provide a short summary of the media selection that you chose. For example, if it is a movie provide a short synapsis of the movie, if it is a book provide a short summary of it and so on. Do not assume that I am familiar with the media/story that you chose.
- Identify and explain relevant class material (theories, concepts, etc.). In this part of the reflection paper, the point is to demonstrate your knowledge of the concept/idea/theory that you identify. Identify and explain the relevant concept/idea/theory. Also, do not assume that I know the concept/theory explain it! The point here is not whether I know it the point is whether you know it and can explain it. As such, DO NOT include direct quotes from the book. Paraphrase everything.
