The American College Organizational Behavior Response
Description
1. I am from Jamul, California. I graduated from GCU last March with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, and I am now working towards my MBA and my Masters of Science in Leadership. I am currently working as an escrow assistant, but I will be starting as a credit analyst in two short weeks. I am excited to start this new career path because it will lead to a great career that will make me much happier than my current job. I have learned a lot working in escrow over the last three years, but I know I will never be fulfilled in the escrow industry, and I am ready to make the change to something new. I am excited to learn more about organizational behavior and how technology impacts corporate management. The hardest part of this Class for me will be the exams because I have always struggled with exams. I plan on reviewing all of the materials available to help me be extra prepared for the exams.
Response:
2. Both Panera and Barry Wehlmiller have successfully adopted conscious capitalism principles. Based on the video “Everybody Matters: A Documentary Short Based on the Best Selling Book”, leadership at Barry Wehlmiller made a conscious decision to reinvent their leadership approach to focus more on caring for staff than caring about profitability. Their approach is that staff who have a positive quality of work life, will result in the company having less turnover and better productivity. In the article, “Conscious Capitalism Is Far From Dead”, Panera is profiled and they have a multitude of different charitable causes they champion. Both companies identify “higher purpose” as their primary cornerstone of values. Putting staff and society in front of profits. The connection between conscious capitalism and the Christian concept of putting others before oneself is very visible. Both concepts embrace helping people and being a part of something bigger than themselves. Both concepts embrace improving humanity through how they treat people in their community and attempting to elevate people in need and positively affect societal issues that serve the greater good.
