MU Mindfulness Techniques Discussion
Description
The Mindfulness Unit Assignment description follows; please complete and return to me via email: Many people (both prior to and during the COVID pandemic) have included different mindfulness (“a state of active, open attention to the present. This state encompasses observing ones thoughts and feelings without judging them as good or bad”) and relaxation techniques in their leisure practices, including things like guided or unguided meditations, gratitude journaling, gentle movements like tai chi or stretching, and more. For your activity for this week, please spend at least 30 minutes learning about or practicing at least one mindfulness technique and then write and submit a 250-500 word response on its usefulness for you: did you enjoy it/find it helpful? What about it was useful or not useful? If you didn’t find it helpful, would some change or alteration have made it more helpful or do you think it’s just part of the characteristics of these techniques? etc. Some suggested options or starting points are linked below, however if you find another that interests you, feel free to use it! Same goes if you already incorporate mindfulness into your routine in some way: feel free to write a response about your experiences with it in your own practice!
