HSM 400 Humanities XYZ Seniors Chicagoland Project
Description
Part I: Explain how you could use deductive and inductive reasoning for your research on the agency. Then, generate a Hypothesis for conducting a quantitative research project and a research question that is appropriate for a qualitative study. Explain why your research questions are appropriate for each approach to qualitative and quantitative research. The quantitative research question will be used for your final project.
Part II:
Section A – Review the services provided by the agency that you have selected for your Final Project. Then, find three peer-reviewed journal articles that examine the needs of people being served by the agency you are using for your final project. Use the information in the peer-reviewed journal articles to create a Summary Table.
Section B – Identify two sampling techniques (Cluster Sampling, Convenience Sampling, Muiltistage Sampling, Purposive Sampling, Quota Sampling, Snowball Sampling, Stratified Random Sampling, Purposive Sampling, and Systematic Sampling) you could use to find participants for your study and explain one strength and one weakness of each technique. Then, select the sampling technique that you believe will be best suited for your study.
Part III: Conceptualize and Operationalize one independent variable for your study and one dependent variable for your study. Determine if the variables are Nominal, Ordinal, Interval, or Ratio. Explain one way you can determine the validity of your study and one strategy for determining reliability in your study.
Part IV: Discuss three types of studies (Case Study, Cohort Study, Panel Study, Trend Study, Cross-sectional Study, and Longitudinal Research) you can use to conduct research on your program. Explain why Internal Validity is important to your study. Then determine which type of study you believe will be most appropriate for your research.
Part V:
Section A: Explain how you could use a Needs Assessment to inform your study.
Section B: Review the research question and study design that you have already established for your program. Describe how you could potentially conduct two forms of evaluation (Evaluation Research, Formative Analysis, Outcome Evaluation, or Process Evaluation). Then determine which approach (Evaluation Research, Formative Analysis, Outcome Evaluation, and Process Evaluation) best describes your study. Explain your answer.
Part VI: Review the materials for your study. Explain how Measures of Association, Measures of Correlation, and Measures of Dispersion could be used to understand the data in your study.
