Description

QTIP 5.14

Overview

QTIPs are a way for you to better understand course concepts and to put it into the context of the real world. These are a great tool to learn with each other in the course. QTIPs are graded using a rubric and are graded as credit or no-credit.

This submission is not intended to be overly burdensome or long. It is a way for you to reaffirm concepts you are learning in the course. These submissions can be less than 300 words and still be very meaningful. The expectation is you submit the QTIP on a weekly basis (or close to it) to help you stay in touch with course readings, PowerPoints and lectures.

Objectives

Generate a Quote, Thought and Interesting Point from the text or outside materials directly related to the chapter.

Reflect on the same QTIP and evaluate the meaning as it relates to course content and current events.

Instructions

From either the course text, PowerPoints, lectures or outside sources select a Quote, Thought and an Interesting Point that is meaningful to you and your course of study and the specific concepts from the chapter of instruction listed in the title of this assignment.

The Quotes are taken directly from the text, PowerPoints, lectures or outside sources. The quote you chose should be meaningful to your studies.

Thoughts are your own thoughts. What do you think about the material?

I am usually really good about shredding anything with my name or any personal information on it, but it seems as that is not enough. Thankfully I have never been the victim, of identity theft, and I really hope I never am.REFLECTION: This was an interesting chapter; I think it gave a lot of perspective and good information on topics that are beneficial to all. At any moment, we could encounter a situation like the ones discussed in this chapter. It is important we know how we can prevent some of these crimes, or know how to handle them if they ever happen to us.REFERENCESBrandl, S. G. (2019). Criminal investigation (4th ed.). Interesting Point: After reading the chapter there are about 9 different ways you can be victimized just by being online. From cyberbullying to child pornography, it’s not uncommon that so many people fall prey to this type of stuff. Online makes it easier for a lot more cowards to surface and victimize people. In the chapter book, it stated that between 10 to 42 percent of college students have experienced some sort of online victimization (pg. 428)Thought: I know that police get involved in identity theft, but to what extent? I know my personal information was stolen and was found in a hotel with several others, and no police officer or anyone contacted me but once. I never even got my personal information back. When do police just give up on this is the question. Reflection: The chapter is very informative on victimization, and how someone can fall prey to it. I think that if we stop giving our personal information out online, there wouldn’t be a need for someone to victimize us or the easy opportunity to do so. Brandl, S. (2018). Criminal Investigation.
