This week’s major assignment is an outline of a longer report (Exercise 6 from Chapter 15). 

Exercise 6: Write a report outline for the problem you selected in Exercise 5. Use major headings. Include a cover letter with your outline. 

For your reference, Exercise 5 is: Prepare to discuss a major community problem suitable for a long report (e.g., traffic, crime, air and water pollution, housing, transportation). Then write a letter to an appropriate agency or business requesting a study of the problem and a report

Use Exercise 5 to determine a major community problem that you will create your outline and then report (for Week 7) and presentation (for Week 8).

1st Traffic:New York City has the second-worst traffic congestion in the U.S. even though the significant population in Manhattan uses the subway or bicycle for transportation. Traffic congestion has multiplied several times, even with higher toll rates.Air pollution:Air pollution is considered a significant threat to New York City residents. In addition to the emission caused by traffic congestion, the city also burns fuel for space and water heating, which accounts for nearly 40 percent of the city’s total greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Which leads to poor air quality, directly resulting in adverse health impacts and premature deaths?Housing:New York is one of the most expensive cities in the world. Renting affordable housing is nearly impossible. For example, renting a studio in Manhattan could be around $3000- $4000/per month. Most New Yorkers have a high rent-to-income ratio and are forced to rent a house at a higher rate. The main reason for the affordable housing crisis is increased demand and less supply. 2nd Below mention the topics, I would like to discuss and addressed here.1.     Traffic issues: Given the increase in the population, traffic has increased since the past few years. Some of the roads always be a busy specifically in working hours which has to be addressed. So personal workers can work and come home after work on time.2.     Water shortage: With the increase in population, there has been a drastic change in the demand of drinking water.  And in this high demand, if water gets wasted then at certain point demand will be much higher than supplies. Which can create a major problem and as far as a future concern, Water needs to be clean, safe, and available for the next generation.3.     Cleanliness: As this town has numerous small streets with trees around and parks, I would like to suggest cleanliness around streets and specifically in the parks. There are a couple of places where clean-up after pets must be addressed to pet owners.  Apart from that, designated smoking areas need to be developed.References: Kolin, P. C. (2017).
