- For Paper #3, you will analyze your company against two of the three options below. In order to receive full credit, you need to address each bullet point for each prompt for the two options you choose.
- Option One: Managing Individual Differences
- Create a profile for the type of employee that would be successful at your company using the individual differences we discussed in the Managing Individual Differences chapter. You should include some of the following concepts:
- Personality (Big 5)
- Self-evaluation (self-efficacy, self-esteem, etc.), or
- Attitudes, emotion, learning orientation, etc.
- How does the company actively recruit for certain traits? Provide evidence.
- Based on employee reviews, news reports, and company press statements, provide an analysis of how well leadership manages and motivates individuals.
- Option Two: Motivation
- In relation to the four major perspectives on motivation, select one of the content theories (e.g., Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, McClelland’s acquired needs theory, Deci and Ryan’s self-determination, Herzberg’s two-factor theory) and apply it to your company. Provide specific examples in your analysis.
- Considering your company’s compensation plans, does your company participate in any of the popular incentive compensation plans mentioned in section 12.6 of our textbook? Provide specific examples in your analysis.
- Option Three: Leadership
- Name three of the top leaders of the organization. For each leader, identify that individual’s source of power (e.g., legitimate, reward, coercive, expert, referent) and justify your analysis.
- Choose one of the top leaders who demonstrates relationship-oriented leader behavior. Analyze which of the four types of relationship-oriented leader behavior this leader demonstrates and provide an example.
- Considering transformational leadership behaviors, do any of the top leaders demonstrate transformational leadership behaviors. Why or why not? Provide examples to support your analysis.
- Option One: Managing Individual Differences
- If your Turnitin score is above 40%, you will receive a 0 for your submission.

- Over 1,000 words: 2 points deducted
- Under 700 words: 2 points deducted
- Other length/formatting errors: 2 points deducted per error
- 2 points deducted for each question that isnt answered
- Clarity
- 1 point deducted per question prompt for vague/not answered response
- 40% or higher Turnitin score results in a 0
