This research paper will create a knowledge base on practical examples, case studies across theglobe focusing on master plan design endeavor of sustainable urbanism. It will also provide anenvironmental scan on successful and unsuccessful master plans of cities, designed by architects from different regions in different parts of the world.

This research project is divided into 3 parts and your final paper should reflect these threecomponents. Research city based on Songdo City by Kohn Pedersen Fox, (2007)

(I) Research: State the project/case study and gather information regarding the architect,historical background of involving in this particular project, team members, context of thatcountry/ city, above all the project itself.

(II) Synthesize: It is expected to collect master plan and all other drawings related to thisproject. Identify the source of readings, books, office, website, experts who could help youto find out all the relevant information that you need to write this paper. In order to learnmore about this topic, interview them (email exchange or face to face), do literature reviewand collect required drawings to critically analyze using sustainable resilient lens.

(III) Analyze: Critically analyze different aspects of this project and master plan. What are thekey principle of this design, how sustainable it is (both socially and environmentally), howthe user of that city feels about their city/ area, how successful the architect is as urbanplanner and designer? Offer recommendations for what are the aspects that needs to beaddressed in this planning process in order to make it sustainable and resilient.
