Practical Research Application

As an instructional leader, you need an evidence base to support decisions you make about improvements in literacy programs. Before making such decisions, however, you must locate the research and determine ways to practically apply it in your school.

In this Application assignment, you will identify and summarize research articles that address the literacy program need that you identified in the Module 1 Analysis. You also will consider the practical application of the research presented in the articles.

• Create a Word document for your response. Use APA format for citations and the references page.
• Create a title page and references page in APA format.
• Follow the directions to complete “Literacy Research Summary.”

Literacy Research Summary

Directions for Completion:

• Select five research articles that support the area of literacy need identified in the Module 1 assignment.
• Compose a 6- to 8-page paper, not including the title and references pages. Title the paper, Literacy Research Summary. Follow APA format for citations and the title and references pages.
• Introduce the paper by summarizing the area of need and how the research applies to the area of need. Document the area of need with data from the Module 1 Analysis.
• Summarize each research article in 1-2 well-developed paragraphs. Include the strategy or strategies suggested in the article and why they are appropriate to address the literacy need at your selected school.
• Develop a plan describing how to apply what you have learned in the research to resolve the literacy need at the selected school.
