Assignment 6: Public Speaking Forum “The Action Assignment”: 30pts.

You will need to watch a speech at www.ted.com and write a two page reflection paper about it. In your paper, you MUST apply terms from class to the speech you witnessed and apply the lessons you learned in watching this to your own public speaking experience as well. The following questions are suggestions. YOU MAY USE OTHERS.

What terminology did you see in action? What did you like? What will you do now that you have seen/performed? What could the performer have done more effectively? Why are words important? These are an example of questions I would like to see answered, but you are not required to answer them all, nor are you limited by them.

Please note that while I am sure you will tell me about the content of the speech, I am far more interested in the application of class terms to the speech you are evaluating. Rather than a synopsis, you are to watch the speech through a critical lens with knowledge from our class in your back pocket. The more you can identify and associate lessons and terms to the speech, the better off you will be. My objective is to see that you have a command of knowledge about public speaking from this class and are able to apply a critical analysis to a professional speech

Please include words like the ‘speakers triangle’, the 4 rules of public speaking (can you say that it was helpful learning these rules and will also use in future), etc.

I view the attachment and use terminologies and lessons learned from it. Be sure to write the paper in simple language with no plagiarism to be found.
