MICROWAVE OVEN SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS SPECIFICATION VALIDATION

Deliverable: Answers to question R1, R2 and R3.

You are part of the Quality Assurance (QA) team at Best Appliances company. You are working on the development of a new link of microwave ovens. Based on multiple interviews with the customer and use of various requirement’s elicitation techniques, the design team has put together the below state machine to model and specify the functional requirements of the new microwave oven.

As part of the requirement’s validation effort, the quality assurance is planned to perform a static walkthrough to validate the requirements. Study the above state machine and test whether the model is consistent with requirements below:

R1: The end-user should be able to switch between full power and half power by pressing corresponding buttons as many times as he/she wishes, before operating the microwave oven.

R2: After selecting the desired power level, the end-user can set the time simply by pressing a number, followed by pressing as many number buttons as he/she wishes until the desired time is set.

R3: The customer explained that the microwave oven must operate automatically in case the end-user opens and immediately closes the door while the oven is in operation mode (in other words, no buttons should have to be pushed to operate the oven). Does the current model presented above capture this requirement? If not, fix the model according to customers desired behavior.


