When it comes to professional presentations, a strength that I possess is my level of organization. When giving a presentation, I realize a lot of my confidence in being able to speak about the topic is having well researched the topic and ensuring I have gathered and understand the data. This is where the organization comes in. Taking the time to research my topic, compile the data, and put it into a presentation is the area I feel is a greater strength for me. I like organizing the information in a way that is easily understandable while still hitting all the key points. Due to my own anxiety of public speaking, I feel as though I am extra motivated to understand my topic in a more thorough manner as this allows me to feel more assured. This shows how the actual act of public speaking is my weakness.

I have learned throughout taking public speaking classes in college that a large way to improve this weakness is through practice. By the end of my public speaking class, although it is still not a favorite thing of mine :), I felt more confident in my ability to public speak efficiently. Efficient communication skills are crucial as they allow us to form connections, influence decisions and motivate change (PAN, 2021). These three things have been such big parts of this course in learning how to efficiently implement EBP. Making connections with those around us in our facility, influencing decisions and motivating change by explaining our capstone change proposals well. (Ashley)
